The PNV of Portugalete has denounced the closure of three rooms at the San Roke social center, located in the heart of the town, due to problems with leaks, dampness, and other damages. Specifically, a room that previously housed the podiatry cabinet, which now has a hole in the ceiling, and a marquetry workshop, which has become «unviable» due to humidity and a partial wall collapse, according to spokesperson Gorka Kerejazu.
Additionally, one of the men's bathrooms is also closed due to leaks, dampness, and foul odors. This situation hinders the center's operations and could affect its users, particularly the elderly.
“"This situation was reported to the senior citizens' council on February 11, but the situation remains unchanged, which is why we ask the government team (PSE) for its repair and reopening."
Kerejazu stated that despite the issues being reported to the senior citizens' council on February 11, 2026, no action has been taken. Therefore, the PNV of Portugalete is calling on the government team (PSE) to repair and reopen these facilities. The local Executive has declined to comment on the matter.
