Pasaban, a family company from Tolosa, has nearly a century of experience in machinery for the paper industry. Its evolution has been shaped by innovation, adaptability, and a constant commitment to specialized knowledge. Currently, it exports 96% of its production, is present in over 40 countries, and has developed technologies to meet the demands of the most specialized global markets.
The company's latest innovation, as explained by the current CEO, Dani García, is a machine capable of producing around four packs of paper sheets per second. This machine utilizes large-format paper rolls from a paper mill and automates the entire process to yield ready-to-distribute packs. These packs are produced on lines exceeding 150 meters in length and consist of over 200,000 components.
This machine is the most productive in its category on the market, capable of producing nearly four packs per second, approximately 2,000 sheets. Pasaban, with almost 100 years of history, has based its success on ambition, risk-taking ability, customer orientation, and continuous improvement, as well as the commitment of all the people who have worked there.
Until approximately the 2010s, Pasaban competed with German companies, but today it is a leader in its market. It offers a top-tier product, although it is more expensive than its competitors. Therefore, efficiency and the ability to offer value are key to defending this position.
Pasaban has undertaken various diversification projects throughout its history, always linked to its capabilities in handling and cutting cardboard and paper. Among these, it has developed solutions in the fields of food-grade paper and banknote paper, achieving significant global recognition.
In the case of food-grade paper, it has developed solutions for the North American market, specifically the fast-food and hamburger sector. Its machines, with millimeter precision, cut the wrapping paper to ensure large chains' logos are perfectly centered. In the banknote paper sector, it has long worked for central banks, manufacturing its first banknote paper cutting machine in 1995 for the National Bank of Ukraine.
It has also maintained close collaboration with Spain's Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre (FNMT), participating in projects like MAES, a machine for applying security elements to banknotes. Many of the euro banknotes currently in circulation have been produced with Pasaban's machines.
The company emphasizes traditional values such as effort, commitment, perseverance, and humility. They have internalized the motto "We never abandon a customer." In the current context of economic and geopolitical uncertainty, Pasaban is committed to the company's future and its roots in Euskadi, aiming to generate wealth in its region.
