A fire in the scrubland near La Arena beach in Muskiz caused alarm among locals who had gathered on Sunday for a swim to escape the high temperatures. The flames consumed vegetation, producing a significant column of smoke.
Firefighters and emergency services were dispatched to the scene. Although the fire is now under control, the dense smoke has reduced visibility for vehicles on the A-8 highway, necessitating the closure of one lane. Additionally, a public address system requested the removal of vehicles from the parking lot.
The origin and full extent of the flames are currently unknown. According to information from the Diputación de Bizkaia, the INFOBI (Bizkaia Forest Fires) unit was deployed, comprising forest rangers, technical staff from the Forestry Service, firefighters, and personnel from Basalan, who manage forest resources and emergency responses in the region.
