The Muskiz City Council has promoted a citizen participation process for the renovation of Meatzari Square. Following consultations with various cultural, social, sports, and educational associations, three cover proposals have been developed. Infographics of these designs are now on display in the hall of the Meatzari Aretoa for public review.
All three concepts cover a minimum area of approximately 500 square meters, incorporating natural light, a stage, and the option to integrate utilities for events. Each proposal has distinct features: one is integrated with the Municipal Police building and the Gaztegune; another includes open spaces to allow direct light entry; and the third is circular, creating the impression of a square within the main square.
Citizens will be able to evaluate the lighting, versatility, and proportions of each proposal. The voting period will open on Friday and run until May 31st, with voting points available at the Gaztegune and Kultur Etxea. Subsequently, the preliminary project for the popularly chosen cover will be drafted, adhering to criteria of accessibility, connectivity, and environmental sustainability. This citizen participation process has involved an investment exceeding 15,000 euros.
