“"This decision responds to demands raised by residents in various meetings, where they highlighted difficulties in finding parking, especially from late afternoon into the evening. This situation largely occurs because as OTA hours approach their end, many spaces are occupied by vehicles of non-residents, complicating daily life for those living in these neighborhoods."

The Leioa City Council has approved the extension of the regulated parking (OTA) hours until midnight on weekdays, a measure set to take effect by late July after its publication in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia.
With this new provision, the OTA service in the neighborhoods of Pinueta, Lamiako, and Ibaiondo will now operate until midnight from Monday to Friday, instead of ending at 9:00 PM. The new operating schedule will be from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM on weekdays, while on Saturdays, it will remain from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
This change was approved by the municipal plenary with votes in favor from PNV, PSE, and PP, and abstentions from EH Bildu and Elkarrekin Leioa Podemos. The modification is expected to be implemented by late July, following 30 working days after its publication in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia.
According to the government team, this extended schedule aims to rectify the situation and reinforce priority for residents, making it easier for them to find parking near their homes. It is important to note that the change in hours will not result in any additional cost for those with an OTA card, as current conditions will be maintained.
