The Leioa City Council will extend the operating hours of the regulated parking service (OTA) until midnight on weekdays in the neighborhoods of Pinueta, Lamiako, and Ibaiondo, in response to residents' requests.

This new measure adds three more hours to the current paid service. The Council estimates that the changes will be implemented by the end of July and has stated that they will not entail any additional economic cost for those who already possess an OTA card, maintaining current conditions.
The modification was approved during this Friday's plenary session with votes in favor from the PNV, PSE, and PP parties. In contrast, EH Bildu and Elkarrekin Leioa Podemos abstained from the vote.

"The extension of the OTA hours is motivated by demands from residents, who have highlighted difficulties in finding parking, especially from late afternoon into the evening."

The City Council explained that in the late hours of the day, as paid parking concludes, many spaces are occupied by vehicles belonging to non-residents, complicating daily life for those living in these neighborhoods. With this extended schedule, the aim is to rectify the reported situation and improve parking rotation, making it easier for residents to find parking near their homes.
The new OTA schedule in Leioa will be as follows: it will operate from Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, and on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
