The work will start in the tunnel heading towards Plaza Músico Guridi. During this initial phase, approximately four months long, pedestrian traffic will be diverted to the opposite sidewalk, and two-way circulation will be enabled in the tunnel tube heading towards Etxebarri.
These modifications will remain in place throughout this phase of the works, so commuters are advised to pay attention to the provisional signage and directions provided in the area.
The project, with a budget exceeding one and a half million euros, includes interventions on the north frontal to repair a longitudinal crack, work on other frontals involving mortar piece replacement and anchoring, consolidation of fillings through injections, sealing of a southwest corner crack, and interior tunnel work focused on drainage improvement to prevent leaks.
New steel gutters and a longitudinal water guide will be installed to redirect water, and the drainage system will be optimized with a concrete channel. The tunnel walls will be clad with acoustic panels, and the lighting will be completely renewed with spaced spotlights in traffic lanes and hanging luminaires along the sidewalks.
Finally, exterior urbanization works will take place, concealing the external gunited surfaces with large metal mesh structures filled with stone, which will be illuminated at night.
