In Bilbao's San Francisco neighborhood, the Municipal Police and National Police carried out a joint operation yesterday afternoon, identifying 43 individuals and making three arrests, following neighborhood complaints.

Yesterday afternoon, officers from the Municipal Police and National Police conducted a joint operation against irregular immigration in Bilbao's San Francisco neighborhood. Units from both forces, accompanied by canine units, deployed on Dos de Mayo street from six in the evening, beginning to request documentation from dozens of individuals and searching several hospitality establishments.
This joint police operation was carried out following complaints from residents. The Sanfran Auzokideak association has repeatedly reported that drug trafficking is tolerated in some of these premises. A spokesperson for the Bilbao City Council reported that agents, belonging to the Tactical Reinforcement Inspection or canine unit of the Local Police and the Foreigners Brigade of the National Police, identified 43 individuals.
Of those identified, two were reported for possession of substances, presumably cocaine and hashish. One person was arrested by the Local Police due to a judicial warrant, and two others were arrested by the National Police.
Officers from the latter police force are equipped with mobile tablet devices to verify fingerprints and check residency status, facilitating their work on-site. They also used a portable metal detector to check for the possession of bladed weapons.
