The Nuestra Señora del Carmen parish, in the Bilbao neighborhood of Indautxu, will host the 'The Pope from Bilbao' initiative on Saturday, June 6th, starting at 8:30 PM. This event, organized by the Adoración Nocturna and the Capilla de Adoración Perpetua de Bilbao, will allow the faithful to connect live, through a giant screen, with the Vigil that pontiff León XIV will preside over in Madrid.
This gathering is especially designed for those who cannot travel and wish to actively and closely experience this historic religious milestone. The visit of León XIV to the State, which will take place from June 6th to 12th, has also sparked deep enthusiasm in Bizkaia. The initiative, as explained by its organizers, is born with an inclusive vocation.
The event at the central Nuestra Señora del Carmen parish is shaping up to be a significant occasion in the heart of Indautxu. The diocese of Bilbao has arranged for a giant screen to be installed inside the temple. The aim is for the people of Bilbao who attend from 8:30 PM onwards to be able to join in real-time the Vigil that the Holy Father will preside over in Madrid's Plaza de Lima, near the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. This central act will combine faith, music—with concerts by Bustamante and Daniel Diges, among others—and entertainment, with various performances including the well-known magician and illusionist Jorge Blass.
The response from the faithful in Bizkaia to the call has been, they note, outstanding. The Youth Department of the Biscayan diocese has already chartered a bus, carrying dozens of young people who will travel to experience firsthand this historic journey of the first Augustinian pontiff in history. Joining this official expedition are about twenty individuals traveling by their own means, as well as various parish groups from Bizkaia who have independently organized their trips. For those in Bizkaia remaining in the territory, the event in Indautxu represents a great opportunity to experience the universality of this religious gathering from Bilbao.
