The town of Lasarte-Oria has launched a pilot project to host five Sahrawi refugee children, with the goal of providing them with proper nutrition and comprehensive healthcare throughout the summer.

The organizers of the initiative explained that, far from the extreme temperatures of the Tinduf desert, the children will be able to meet their basic needs and experience a different reality in our region. The project aims to improve the well-being of these children, allowing them to enjoy the sea, mountains, and nature, while acting as "little ambassadors" to raise awareness about the situation of their people.
To carry out this project, citizen support is essential. Four of the children will stay in a donated house in the municipality under the supervision of monitors. To cover travel and living expenses, solidarity bracelets are on sale in local shops, and collection boxes have been placed in various hospitality establishments.
Additionally, a campaign to collect food and first-aid supplies has been organized at points such as the Municipal Library, the Gazteleku, and other public centers. Those interested in collaborating or seeking more information can call 656 77 81 97 or email sahararekinlasarteoria@gmail.com.
