The Galdakao City Council has presented the Santakurtz festival program, which will feature pregoner Iskander, txupinera Maria, and several key events including a pelota festival and the renovation of Maximo Moreno park.

Galdakao's festivals are gearing up with the presentation of the Santakurtz program. The event was attended by the chosen festival pregoner, Iskander, the txupinera Maria, the poster artist Ane, and Jai Batzordea (Festival Committee) member Izaskun, who shared details about the upcoming events.
There will also be something special for pelota fans. The Basque National Team will play a Pelota Festival during the Galdakao festivities as part of their preparation for the World Championship. The event will take place on September 12th at the Kurtz fronton, featuring Gaizka Carregal from Galdakao and Ekhi Irribarria from Aramai, as well as the duos Azketa-Bernaola and Lizeaga-Elorz.
Furthermore, one of the Galdakao City Council's next major challenges is the renovation of Maximo Moreno park. Mayor Iñigo Arriandiaga stated that their goal is to transform the park into a meeting point for citizens by renewing urban furniture, installing children's spaces, and creating a more pleasant environment. Following the traffic calming on Txomin Egileor street, benches, green areas, and sidewalks will be renovated to create a new zone for families and children to enjoy.
Additionally, the Galdakao Empowerment Schools will offer 11 courses from October to May at the Torrezabal Cultural Center and Eperlanda in Aperribai. The courses will cover topics such as feminism, communication, self-defense, health, and digital skills. The registration period will be open from September 2nd to 16th.
The Santakurtz Bertsolari Festival will also be held on September 13th in the Kurtz square, featuring Nerea Ibarzabal, Unai Iturriaga, Alaia Martin, and Julio Soto, with local bertsolari Arkaitz Estiballes as the presenter.
Finally, the swimming pools at the Urreta sports center will reopen on September 1st after their summer closure. Rooms for various physical activities will also be reopened, although the new cardio and fitness area is expected to be ready in October.
