The town of Etxebarri has sent a strong message of "No aggression during festivals!" in response to two serious incidents that occurred during the San Antonio celebrations. The first involved a sexual assault reported by a young woman in the early hours of June 7th within the festival's txosna area. The second, in the early hours of June 14th, saw around a hundred individuals cause an altercation by throwing objects and assaulting officers from the Local Police and the Ertzaintza.
The strong rejection was evident at a protest gathering that brought together over 400 people in Zintururi square. Leading the demonstration were the mayor of the town, Iker López, and the mother of the assaulted young woman, who read statements condemning the events.
Officers from the Etxebarri Local Police, members of the local council, and hundreds of residents also participated in the event, showing their solidarity and condemnation.
