The Ertzaintza has initiated an investigation to locate the individual responsible for a stabbing that occurred in Bilbao on Thursday night, leaving a victim injured at the intersection of Hurtado de Amézaga and Iturrizar streets.

According to sources from the Security Department of the Basque Government, the events unfolded around 10:20 PM on Thursday in an area frequently used by pedestrians. Emergency services, including Ertzaintza patrols and two ambulances, were promptly dispatched to the scene following an alert call.
At the site of the assault, a man was found lying on the ground with at least one stab wound to his side, near his ribs. Paramedics provided initial assistance in situ to stabilize his condition, requiring oxygen administration via a mask before his transfer to the hospital.
The injured individual was subsequently transported to Cruces Hospital, where he remains admitted with a reserved prognosis. The Ertzaintza is not ruling out any hypotheses and continues its investigation, with ongoing police proceedings to reconstruct the incident.
