Residents of Leioa have held a demonstration at Artatza park to denounce the arrival of materials for the construction of the tunnel under the estuary. The local platform claims that the initial steps of the project were taken without prior notice.
Works are expected to commence in October, raising concerns about the impact on the Artatza-Romo high school due to noise and vibrations. Residents have criticized the lack of adherence to administrative procedures, including environmental assessments and acoustic quality protocols mandated by Decree 213/2012.
The platform warns of negative consequences for public health and the environment, citing increased traffic and the loss of green areas. Over the past two years, they have organized several protests against the project before the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.
