The Bizkaiko Txakolina Designation of Origin has launched a new season of activities at its Mendibile Jauregia headquarters, running until December. The schedule includes five tastings with pairings and guided tours of the new exhibition on the history and evolution of txakoli, as well as six concerts featuring Meibi y los vietnamitas blancos, Rollito acústico, Lorelei Green, Viva Vermut, Swamp, and Flor y Trol.
Tastings and visits to the exhibition space will take place on various Saturdays each month. The first, on the 18th, will be free. Subsequent events will cost 9 euros (including a visit, three txakolis, and two pintxos). Musical performances will be held on Sunday afternoons on the palace's terrace, with free admission.
“"All these proposals are aimed at disseminating and promoting the Bizkaia txakoli sector and product, which is increasingly recognized and valued both within and outside our borders."
Arantza Atutxa, Deputy for Natural Environment, emphasized that "as important as what has been achieved so far is to keep looking to the future." Meanwhile, the mayor of Leioa, Iban Rodríguez, acknowledged that the Bizkaiko Txakolina Designation of Origin headquarters in Mendibile "is one of the gastronomic and tourist benchmarks" of the municipality, adding that "it is Leioa's responsibility to safeguard a part of Bizkaia's wine heritage."
