The Instituto Biofisika (CSIC-UPV/EHU) is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral candidate for the research project "Shear-Stress-Responsive Nanotechnology and Microfluidic Platforms for Targeted Cardiovascular Therapy and Atherosclerosis Management".

The Instituto Biofisika (CSIC-UPV/EHU) is offering a two-year postdoctoral employment contract for a highly motivated candidate to join the Biocolloids and Neutron Scattering Laboratory. The project, funded by the Basque Government, aims to develop nanocarriers for targeted drug delivery to stenotic regions of blood vessels, leveraging elevated shear stress to trigger cargo release.
The research will involve designing and operating microfluidic devices mimicking stenosed vessels, preparing and characterizing lipid-based and other soft-matter drug carriers, and conducting in situ and flow-SAXS/SANS experiments at laboratory sources and synchrotron facilities. The role also includes rheological characterization, quantitative analysis and modeling of scattering and flow data, and co-supervision of PhD and Master's students.
The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art scientific infrastructure and collaborate with leading research groups nationally and internationally, including experimental use of major facilities like ESRF and Institut Laue-Langevin in France. The position is based at the Instituto Biofisika, a joint research center of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), located on the UPV/EHU campus near Bilbao.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, or Engineering, with a strong background in scattering techniques (SAXS, SANS) and experience in rheology and/or microfluidics. Excellent English communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team are required.
