Construction professionals, companies, and entities gathered yesterday at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao for the conference «The use of BIM Methodology for OSH in construction works», organized by Osalan. The event analyzed the role of digitalization in occupational risk prevention.
The session served as a space for reflection and knowledge exchange on the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology. This tool allows for the integration of occupational safety and health throughout all phases of a project, from initial design to management. The methodology's potential to anticipate risk situations, improve coordination among project stakeholders, and foster safer work environments was emphasized.
The event was inaugurated by Lourdes Íscar, Osalan's Director General. Subsequently, specialists shared their knowledge and experiences on the practical application of BIM in occupational risk prevention. Initiatives developed at both institutional and corporate levels were presented, along with examples of integrating prevention through digital tools and collaborative models.
Throughout the day, the growing importance of digital transformation in the construction sector and the need to leverage new technologies to strengthen a preventive culture were highlighted. Participants agreed that the use of data, advanced planning, and team collaboration contribute to better identification and control of risks present in construction sites.
The closing remarks were delivered by Inés Álvarez, Osalan's Deputy Technical Director, concluding a conference that offered best practices, innovative experiences, and future approaches for continued progress in integrating occupational risk prevention within the construction sector.
