The Bilbao Sports Club is strengthening its position as a central venue for cesta punta and professional pelota, with a new edition of the Bilbao Iron Cup tournament and events from the promoter Basquemotion, drawing significant public interest.

The Bilbao Sports Club is increasingly establishing itself as a significant stage for cesta punta and professional pelota. This is evidenced by the new edition of the Bilbao Iron Cup tournament, which counts towards the Jai Alai League circuit and will take place from May 1 to June 5. According to organizers, this championship holds growing importance in the professional pelota scene.
All tournament matches will be held every Friday, starting at 7:00 PM. The previous two seasons saw all tickets sold out, and organizers have indicated that if there had been more capacity, more tickets would have been sold. Season tickets are available for 60 euros.
The facilities of the Bilbao Sports Club are becoming increasingly integrated into the professional pelota circuit across all its disciplines. Since the pala modality moved to the Bizkaia fronton, the old Alameda Rekalde venue experienced a period of less activity, but it has now become a functional element for professional cesta punta.
Furthermore, the new promoter Basquemotion, which operates in the professional pala sector, held an event on March 28 where many people were left without tickets, demonstrating the high level of interest in professional pelota in Bilbao.
This weekend, the Bilbao Sports Club will host a double session: the final of the men's preliminary round of the Iron Cup and the two preliminary matches of the women's tournament on Saturday, starting at 6:00 PM. Additionally, on Sunday, there will be a Pelota Pro Liga event, featuring companies Aspe and Baiko Pilota, with the main match of the Manomanista championship.
The pelota lineup will feature a luxury opening act with the return to the courts of players Zabaleta and Mariezkurrena, starting at 5:15 PM.
