The addition of these units marks a further step in enhancing travel conditions for users of the C3 line, particularly regarding accessibility. The 447 trains are equipped with features that facilitate boarding and offer improved comfort.
This measure will increase the availability of accessible rolling stock on the Bilbao-Orduña line, although not all services will be operated by 447 units. These trains are temporarily added to the fleet and will run alongside the existing 446 units, which do not have the same accessibility features.
The improvements will be progressive, increasing the presence of more accessible trains on the C3 line, a crucial route for mobility between Bilbao and the Alto Nervión region. The 447 units offer superior accessibility, comfort, efficiency, and travel conditions compared to the 446 units.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to upgrade commuter rail rolling stock in Euskadi. As committed to the Department of Sustainable Mobility, Renfe plans to introduce 447 units to the Bilbao hub in autumn, already assigned to the Bizkaia fleet, thereby advancing accessibility, comfort, and service quality in the province.
