Elgoibar has become the venue for the Wellbeing Plaza for two days, an initiative by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa marking its tenth stop. During these days, participants will analyze the impact of new realities on people's wellbeing.
The main objective of the initiative is to address integral wellbeing as a collective challenge and reflect upon it. The General Deputy of Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendoza, and the Mayor of Elgoibar, Maialen Gurrutxaga, presented the event to the media.
The Wellbeing Plaza began its journey in July last year in Zarautz, and since then has visited nine municipalities: Zarautz, Bergara, Eibar, Hernani, Legazpi, Pasaia, Deba, Donostia, and Hondarribia. The Elgoibar gathering is part of a tour across the territory that will cover various topics, including physical exercise, healthy eating, screen usage, youth wellbeing, and the impact of agriculture, industry, and creativity on wellbeing.
Mayor Maialen Gurrutxaga thanked the Provincial Council for choosing Elgoibar as a venue, emphasizing that wellbeing is a collective challenge requiring the involvement of the entire community.
The program kicked off this morning with Adinberri. First, an open sports session was led by physical trainer Iñigo Vicens. Subsequently, a cognitive stimulation workshop with Naia Rose and a mindfulness therapy session with Raquel Rodríguez were offered. Later, expert Jakoba Errekondo shared the keys to responsible and sustainable nutrition with three young farmers, highlighting the experiences and future perspectives of new generations.
In the afternoon, a dialogue took place between newcomers and locals, focusing on language, identity, integration, and coexistence. To conclude the day, humorist Idoia Torregarai led a dynamic workshop on emotional wellbeing through laughter and humor.
Tomorrow, youth wellbeing will be the main focus, addressing issues such as social media addiction, loss of social skills, and the choice of suicide. Following this, the impact of machinery and tools in Elgoibar and the evolution of the world of work on wellbeing will be analyzed with industry professionals.
On Friday afternoon, under the title 'In the era of screens, healthy usage,' a dynamic session will be held to promote responsible mobile and digital technology use, particularly aimed at parents. Later, the impact of creativity on wellbeing will be discussed with creators from various disciplines. To conclude, a tasting of Mausitxa cheese will be offered, accompanied by Lizagasar cider.
