The Basque Government has approved a direct grant of 858,333 euros to the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum Foundation to support the institution's investment budget for the year 2026.

The total investment plan for 2026 amounts to 2,575,000 euros. This budget is shared equally among the three entities forming the Board of Trustees: the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, and Bilbao City Council.
The funds are allocated to three main areas: 1,275,000 euros for equipment, 900,000 euros for the artistic collection, and 400,000 euros for Arteder, the database dedicated to Basque art.
Opened in 1914, the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum holds a vast collection ranging from Romanesque art to contemporary avant-garde works. The foundation's mission remains focused on preserving, studying, and promoting cultural values through its educational programs.
