Bilbao Athletic confirmed its downward trend with another loss, the fourth in a row, this time against Racing de Ferrol. Although the Galician team arrived at Lezama with two fewer points and a similar streak of three defeats, they managed to dominate the match. The home team struggled to find their footing on the field, exhibiting a flat and indifferent style of play against a more experienced and tenacious opponent.
Racing de Ferrol scored early in the match. From the first corner kick, the ball found the head of central defender Chema Rodríguez, who sent it into the net, leaving the home goalkeeper with no chance. This defensive miscue in the opening minutes, similar to what happened in Cáceres, severely penalized the young team, who appeared to be running out of ideas.
After halftime, the home coach made three substitutions in an attempt to turn the game around, but it was not enough. Racing de Ferrol maintained control of the game and let the minutes tick by. Although the home team had a scoring opportunity that was disallowed for offside, they failed to breach the opponent's goal, and Racing secured the victory.
