The BBK Foundation building in Urazurrutia hosts intensive 16-week courses, known as 'bootcamps', in new technologies for individuals with and without prior experience in the sector. These courses are offered in collaboration with Lanbide twice a year to meet the growing demand for digital profiles.
The organizers state that the courses have an 80% employability rate, with starting salaries exceeding 26,000 euros annually. Since February, 70 students have been enrolled in four courses: cybersecurity, data science, digital marketing, and web development. From ten in the morning until one, students, up to 55 years old, collaborated in groups this Thursday to design applications and websites that would enhance sustainability using 'prompts', the instructions given to artificial intelligence.
“"This is about replicating what their work environment will be like, where they will be required to use AI."
Ultimately, Rópalo, an application similar to Wallapop for donating unused clothing, was the winner. The courses, running from 9 AM to 5 PM, are intensive and highly sought after by companies. They began in 2018 and solidified in 2022 when the Foundation started collaborating with The Bridge, a specialized company providing expertise and faculty. To date, over 740 people have been trained.
“"We have achieved that 'bootcamps' are now the second source of new technical talent creation in Euskadi."
Among the students, there are diverse profiles and ages, with many lacking prior technological sector training. Participants range from those with only a high school diploma to taxi drivers or graduates in Law or Business Administration and Management. These 'bootcamps' are updated much faster than traditional degrees, adapting to labor market demands, and are offered free of charge, although their real cost can exceed 6,000 euros.
