The Arrigorriaga City Council has submitted objections to the new concessionary draft plan for Bizkaibus covering the Nerbioi-Arratia-Durangaldea route. The council's main objective is to "defend the rights of residents, ensure universal accessibility to public transport, and, as a priority, substantially improve connections between the municipality, its neighborhoods, and health services," according to municipal sources.
This municipal initiative follows a working meeting held earlier in the year between the mayor, Maite Ibarra, and the Councilor for Mobility, Xabier Cabrera, with the public transport service managers of Bizkaibus. Consequently, during the plan's objection period, the Council sought to present a series of strategic demands.
Firstly, the governing team requests the implementation of direct or semi-direct journeys between Arrigorriaga and the Galdakao-Usansolo Hospital during specific hours, "significantly reducing current travel times and ensuring a more efficient and accessible health connection for citizens," they clarify.
Secondly, they demand a study into incorporating connections linking Bolueta, Venta Alta, and Arrigorriaga to "improve accessibility and reduce travel times for residents of the town center as well as those in Abusu and surrounding areas."
Finally, another proposed change involves extending certain routes to the Arandia area, taking advantage of the current regulation times for buses near the municipal health center, describing it as "an area currently insufficiently connected," the City Council states.
To verify the real demand and utility these proposals could have for the public, the City Council requests that pilot experiences or temporary service trials be considered. They also demand the maintenance of a permanent dialogue process between the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the City Council, and the users.
