A man was arrested last March at the Port of Bilbao after being found with 4.6 kilos of hashish and 216 grams of cocaine hidden in his vehicle while boarding a ferry destined for Ireland.

Agents of the Guardia Civil made the arrest in March, charging the individual with an alleged crime against public health. The discovery occurred during a fiscal control operation established at the Port of Bilbao for the boarding of passengers and vehicles onto the Santoña ferry, which operates the route between Bilbao and Rosslare (Ireland).
During the fiscal inspections, agents identified the driver of a car, who was the sole occupant. Upon checking his documentation and personal belongings, they found a small piece of hashish and a white powdery substance, presumably cocaine, in his wallet.
Given these findings, a more thorough inspection of the vehicle was conducted. Several packages were discovered hidden inside the trunk. After opening them, 44 tablets of suspected hashish were found, along with three rock-like fragments of a substance believed to be cocaine.
Once the seized substances were weighed, the hashish tablets amounted to approximately 4.6 kilograms, while the three packages of cocaine weighed 216 grams. Consequently, the individual, a national of Cape Verde, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking offense and handed over to judicial authorities along with the prepared proceedings.
