The Lamiaena Women's Center in Arrigorriaga has launched its feminist program for the new academic year, collaborating with local organizations. New activities include workshops on mobile photography and medicinal plants, as well as feminist self-defense sessions.
The program kicked off on October 3rd with the Welcome to the Course Party and the fifth Fair of Women Creators. Participants included Malmasingo Lagunak, Urruma Feminist Group, and Padura Mountain Club, presenting their initiatives. Registration for activities opened on October 5th at Lamiaena and the Abusu Sociocultural Center.
Separately, two Arrigorriaga local police officers were assaulted last Monday in a bar. A man attacked them, causing injuries, which has led to both officers taking a one-week leave of absence. The Esan union has denounced the increasing frequency of such incidents in the municipality, emphasizing that violence against police officers should not be part of the job.
Arrigorriaga's mayor, Maite Ibarra, has expressed solidarity with the assaulted officers and called on citizens to show respect towards municipal workers. She also confirmed that the City Council has relayed citizen complaints about bad odors to the Basque Government, which is conducting an olfactometric study of air quality.
Lastly, paralympic athlete Aner Arostegi discussed his sports career and future aspirations. After achieving several national and international titles, his primary goal is to compete in the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
