A fire that broke out this Saturday in the ground floor of a four-story building in Ordizia, which houses a gastronomic society, has forced its evacuation and caused several families to spend the night away from their homes.

The fire started around 5:00 PM on Saturday in the lower part of a property located at number 1 of Garagartza Square in the Gipuzkoan town, as reported by the Security Department of the Basque Government.
Apparently, the flames originated in the chimney of a gastronomic society, and the fire particularly affected the upper floors of the building. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and evacuated the building. Residents of the first and second floors were able to return to their homes around midnight.
However, the occupants of the upper floors have had to be rehoused and spent the night outside their homes, awaiting a technical inspection scheduled for this Sunday. No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.
