The Legazpi Town Hall initiated a plan at the end of 2025 to comprehensively address the Urtatza neighborhood, fulfilling a commitment made to residents as part of the Legazpi Auzoetatik initiative. To this end, the team led by local architects Medina & Murua has conducted a study of the neighborhood and will present proposals for its integral improvement, focusing on accessibility, sustainability, and residents' quality of life.
Urtatza, with its unique characteristics, is a cohesive and livable neighborhood, where residents have shown a clear commitment to caring for their environment and wish to continue living there. Therefore, the Town Hall aims to develop this plan in close collaboration with the community.
To facilitate this collaboration, an open participatory session has been organized for October 20th at 6:00 PM at the Olamendi School. During this session, residents of Urtatza will have the opportunity to present their opinions and proposals directly to the professionals drafting the plan.
Mayor Eric Gálvez emphasized, "The opinion of Urtatza's residents is vital. Together, we want to create a plan for a more accessible, livable, and sustainable neighborhood." This participatory session is an excellent opportunity for the neighborhood's future, and the Town Hall intends for all contributions to be gathered and worked upon to enhance life and quality of life in the area.
The Town Hall encourages all residents of Urtatza to actively participate in this session and engage in the process by contributing their ideas, concerns, and proposals. Building the neighborhood's future is a collective task, and every opinion counts towards achieving a more accessible, sustainable Urtatza, adapted to the real needs of its inhabitants.
