A lively and colorful Sunday morning was experienced in Zegama, where the Dantzari Txiki Eguna was celebrated in an unbeatable atmosphere. Accompanied by sunny weather, the town's streets were filled with music and dance, thanks to the event organized by the TOBERA Music and Dance School.
This year's edition brought together six dance groups from the Goierri region: Axari from Idiazabal, Solkie from Zerain, Aurtzaka and Ostadar from Beasain, Oin Arin from Lazkao, and the local group, TOBERA from Zegama. In total, nearly 200 dancers and txistularis gathered, most of them young, but full of enthusiasm and energy.
The morning began with a snack to warm up the atmosphere among the participants. Afterwards, the main parade started at 11:30 AM. Led by the music school's trikitilaris, the dancers paraded through the town, making three stops. At these stops, members of all groups danced the same piece together, creating special moments for spectators and demonstrating the power of collaboration.
“"Dance and music have a great power to unite the community, and Zegama has once again responded excellently to such an initiative."
The route ended in the town square, with a final joint session. There, all the dancers concluded the event together, in a performance that attracted a large audience. The public enthusiastically followed the dances, and applause accompanied each moment, making it even more special.
The TOBERA Music and Dance School has been promoting such initiatives for years, although the first Dantzari Txiki Eguna in its current format was organized in Zegama in 2014. Since then, the event has found its place in the regional calendar. Currently, TOBERA has almost 100 dance students, more than 20 of whom are adults, and its activity is not limited to Zegama: they also teach classes in Mutiloa, Segura, and Zerain, opening their doors to students from other towns.
The organizers gave a very positive assessment, both in terms of participation and the atmosphere generated. The day passed without incident, and the public's response was excellent.
Furthermore, TOBERA's dancers have a busy schedule for the coming months. The next event will be on May 9, at the communions in Zegama. In addition, they will participate in the Dantzari Txiki of Beasain in May, and in Lazkao in June. They also have several other events planned, such as the combo group concert on May 14, the end-of-course festivals in mid-June, or the special performances they will do in July with the Tapia and Leturia group.
