The Zaldibia Festivals, which began last week, will continue this weekend. The program will offer various events this afternoon and tomorrow, primarily musical and cultural performances.
Today, October 9th, the afternoon will feature matches from the local pelota championship. Afterwards, the Iztueta Dantza group will present a performance in the square. Organized by Xirika Kultur Elkartea, a potato tortilla competition will take place at 7:30 PM, followed by the presentation of tortillas and dinner. The evening will be rounded off with a concert by Andoni Ollokiegi at 11:30 PM.
Tomorrow, Saturday, October 10th, Cuadrilla Day will be celebrated. In the morning, there will be a kalejira by txistularis and inflatables for children. At midday, cuadrillas will parade with the Jun Da Jo charanga, followed by a meal in the square, offered by Biziola Kooperatiba. In the afternoon, there will be games between cuadrillas and a street parade. In the evening, the Basque rumba group Kilimak will perform, followed by the romería group Zatekeen, and from midnight onwards, DJ Siwanaba will take the stage.
Andoni Ollokiegi is a well-known singer, musician, and composer in Euskal Herria for his energetic performances. Kilimak is a leading group in Basque rumba, and the romería group Zatekeen, originating from Zumarraga and Urretxu, blends classic and modern romería styles. DJ Siwanaba is a Basque-Nicaraguan DJ with a project based on decolonial music.
