The VIII Goilurrak Rally is being held today between Azkoitia and Lazkao, featuring 57 drivers. Yesterday afternoon, the participants underwent vehicle scrutineering and attended the start event in Azkoitia. As is tradition, the checks took place at the church porch, followed by a presentation area set up in Plazaberri where each driver shared their ambitions. A large crowd gathered for these events.
Organized by sports clubs Errebueltie Motor and Ikullu Racing, the rally includes four timed stages in the Urola Kosta region. The first and third stages will be in Errezil, covering a 7.44-kilometer stretch between the Benta Berri wall and Santa Engrazi (starting at 08:40 and 11:45 respectively). The second and fourth stages will take place between Endoia (Zestoa) and the Otarre restaurant in the Madariaga neighborhood (Azkoitia), spanning 14.58 kilometers (starting at 09:10 and 12:15).
In addition to the racing stages, there will be an opportunity to see the competing cars stationary in Azkoitia. After completing the first two stages of the day, from 09:40 onwards, the cars will gather at the Oteiza sports hall for an approximate 20-minute rest. This same break will be repeated after the fourth stage concludes, from around 13:20.
The rally is scheduled to conclude around 19:00, with the awards ceremony planned for 20:15 in Lazkao's Euskadi square. The drivers who achieve the best times in this year's rally will be honored there.
