The Urretxu City Council will host the twelfth edition of the Diversity Festival on May 30th in Gernikako Arbola Square, aiming to celebrate the municipality's cultural richness and foster community participation.

The event will take place on Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Residents interested in contributing to the festival's organization can attend weekly meetings held every Thursday at 5:00 PM at the town hall's entrance, with the first meeting scheduled for today.
The primary goal of the festival is to celebrate all the diverse cultures and origins coexisting in Urretxu. Additionally, it seeks to highlight the work of the Urretxu Coexistence and Diversity Table, an entity comprising individuals, groups, and associations that work diligently throughout the year.

We understand that these diversities are something to be celebrated, as they are what enrich a town. Furthermore, such actions provide an excellent opportunity to get to know each other and overcome prejudices.

The Coexistence and Diversity Table organizes various initiatives, such as the Urretxun Bizi Gara program, which helps new residents familiarize themselves with Urretxu's services and Basque culture. They also promote the Sukaldanitzak project, blending Basque and global cuisine. This year, four sessions were held at the Goierri sports club headquarters, achieving record participation with 55 adults and 16 children.
