Urretxu will host its 12th 'Festival of Diversity' this Saturday in Gernikako Arbola square. The event will bring together the gastronomy and culture of 15 countries, with local residents sharing traditions from their homelands. Stalls offering typical foods will be open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
In addition to the gastronomic offerings, the festival will feature numerous workshops and performances. Various associations and groups will provide activities focused on games and crafts, including 'Creating Bonds', 'Your Name in Arabic', a basket weaving workshop, 'bag design', children's games, a badge-making workshop, and braid and henna workshops.
Performances will include African percussion and dances, Peruvian dances, and a concert by the band 'Los Diversos'. A metal mural, previously painted, will be adorned with magnets representing local diversity, creating a 'treasure of diversity'.
Organizers encourage attendees to use reusable plates and cups to reduce plastic waste. They also recommend using tupperware for taking food home.
The event will conclude at 7:30 PM in the same Gernikako Arbola square with the concert 'Sorotan Bele Gogoan'. This performance will be a joint offering by Urbil Artola and Gorka Sarriegi from the group Urbil, alongside the Iparragirre Balerdi music band. The concert pays homage to the popular Basque folk-pop group from the nineties.
