The 50th edition of the Kilometroak festival will be held on October 4 in Lazkao, and to commemorate its half-century journey, an initiative called "50 festivals, 50 peaks" has been organized, involving taking group photos on the mountain peaks of Gipuzkoa.

The Kilometroak festival, in support of the ikastolas of Gipuzkoa, will reach its 50th edition this year, with the event to be held on October 4 in Lazkao. Over this half-century, the festival has taken place in numerous municipalities, including Usurbil in 2015, under the slogan "Gattunk".
The festival's history began in 1977 between the towns of Beasain and Lazkao. The second edition, meanwhile, was held on October 1, 1978, in Zubieta, organized by the ikastolas of Donostia, with the slogan "ibilian dabil bildurik euskalduna, eraso guztietan gaindik euskarari". Thus, Usurbil and Zubieta are part of the festival's history.
On the occasion of this half-century initiative, the "50 festivals, 50 peaks" challenge has been organized. The goal of this activity is to gather as many group photographs as Kilometroak editions on the mountain peaks of Gipuzkoa. The photograph from Usurbil, for example, was taken on May 3 during Andatza Eguna.
The call for participation was made in recent weeks by the Zirimara project, as part of an organized family plan. Families who participated in this Andatza Eguna walked together to the summit, and at the end, near the shelter, they were invited to join the group photograph "on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Kilometroak festival organized annually by the ikastolas, with the initiative 50 years 50 peaks".

"Walking, walking, back! The long journey of the Kilometroak festival began in Lazkao in 1977 and will return to Lazkao in 2026. Walking, walking, never failing, we will close a big loop, but its closure does not mean an end at all, but quite the opposite; we are at the beginning of another turn, another loop."

the organizers
The 50th Kilometroak festival on October 4 will be celebrated in Lazkao under the slogan "Ibilian-ibilian, buelta!", returning to the festival's starting point. According to the organizers, a loop will be closed, but this does not represent an end, but rather the beginning of another cycle. They have also released a video commemorating the entire history of the festival, including the 1978 Zubieta and 2015 Usurbil editions.
