The Ostadar club from Lasarte-Oria will experience a significant moment this Saturday afternoon. The Preferente team will play the second leg of the play-off for promotion to the Regional Honor Division against Ordizia at the Altamira stadium, kicking off at six in the evening. Two years ago, in May 2024, the Lasarte-Oria team found themselves in a similar situation, though it was then at the Azkoagain field against Aloña Mendi.
The club has organized a bus service for fans, departing at 16:45 from the Hipódromo area. Coach Jon Irureta has urged supporters to accompany the team: «Join us for this final effort. Your support in Ordizia is indispensable for us». Irureta noted that «although we are playing away, we managed to keep a clean sheet in the first leg at Michelín, which gives more value to any goals scored in Ordizia».
Regarding the first leg, played at Michelín, Irureta described it as «very special». «These matches generate great expectation and excitement. Furthermore, it reminded us of what we experienced two years ago in the play-off. The team came out eager to perform well, to enjoy, and to give their all».
The first half of the match was very tight, with few chances for either team. A cautious approach prevailed, and neither Ostadar nor Ordizia took risks with the ball, resulting in a lot of contested play and a battle for midfield control.
In the second half, «the game opened up a bit more, and we had our moments, as did Ordizia. But ultimately, neither side managed to score».
Before the match, a tribute was held for Mikel Etxarri, a key figure in sports training. Members of Ostadar's Nordic walking section, along with players and coaches from both football teams, formed a guard of honor for the former Lasarte-Oria coach. Etxarri, visibly moved, thanked them for the recognition in his hometown. The Board of Directors of the Gipuzkoan Football Federation has decided that the coaches' school will be named after Mikel Etxarri.
