The Olaberria team will play the first leg of the Gipuzkoa Inter-Town Pelota Championship knockout round against Azpeitia. The matches will commence on Saturday, May 9, at 10:00 AM at the local fronton. In the initial match, a local pair will compete against Garaizar-Alkorta in the leather paleta modality.
In the second match, another Olaberria pair will face Martija-Sanchez in short pala at 11:00 AM. The return match will be played next week in Azpeitia. Concurrently, three other towns in Goierri—Lazkao, Zegama, and Zumarraga—will play their return matches of the championship this weekend.
Lazkao will play its return match at the Joxemiel Barandiaran fronton on Sunday, May 10, starting at 10:30 AM. In their previous match, played in Amezketa, they lost two out of three games. In the cadet category, an Lazkao pair defeated Gorostidi-Saralegi 22-17. In juniors, the Agirre-Esnaola pair lost 16-22, and in seniors, the Ander Garmendia and Manex Garmendia pair lost 22-6.
Zegama is scheduled to play its return match in Antzuola today at 6:30 PM. In the first leg, played at the Toki-Alai fronton, they won two out of three matches. In cadets, the Ormazabal-Landa pair won 22-2. In juniors, the Izagirre-Landa pair won 22-2. In amateurs, the Telleria-Galdos pair lost 8-22.
Meanwhile, Zumarraga will play its rubber paleta return match at the Beotibar fronton in Tolosa today, starting at 9:00 PM. In the first leg, one Zumarraga pair won, and another lost.
