Beasain has officially commenced the Loinatz festivities with the firing of the chupinazo and the reading of the proclamation, following an earlier reception for local footballers Aritz Elustondo and Beñat Turrientes.

The two footballers, holding the Copa del Rey trophy won last year with Real Sociedad, arrived at Loinazko San Martin Square. There, players from the youth teams of Beasain Kirol Elkarte formed a pathway for them to the town hall entrance.
Inside the town hall's assembly hall, the mayor Leire Artola welcomed them, and together with the president of Beasain KE, Kepa Lasa, presented them with festival scarves and a commemorative gift. Afterwards, the footballers appeared on the town hall balcony to offer the trophy to the citizens gathered in the square.

"Aritz, thank you, you are a role model for all the young people of Beasain and for me. Since I joined the first team, you have helped me a lot, and it has been a tremendous pleasure to live, share, and enjoy these years."

"It's a tremendous pleasure to show you the trophy. We know what day it is today; behave yourselves, have fun, and long live the Loinatz festivities!"

After the players' brief remarks, students from La Salle school, accompanied by representatives from other educational centers, delivered the proclamation officially opening the festivities. The celebrations began with the firing of the chupinazo, and the festival will truly ignite tonight with the Descent of Mari.
Aritz Elustondo will not continue with Real Sociedad and will cease to be a player for the club on June 30th, as his contract will not be renewed. In addition to the Beasain celebration, on Sunday, May 17th, during the match between Real Sociedad and Valencia at Anoeta, the club will present him with a gold and diamond insignia to recognize his career as a txuri-urdin.
