Legazpi will be the host town for the 'Musikaldi' festival, organized biennially by the Association of Music and Dance Schools of Euskal Herria, bringing together around 1,700 musicians and dancers from 34 schools on May 23rd.

This festival provides an important meeting point for music and dance schools across Euskal Herria. The local music school, Doinua, will organize the event, with the collaboration of the Legazpi Town Council and the sponsorship and funding from both the Association of Music and Dance Schools of Euskal Herria and the Education Department of the Basque Government.

"The event will offer a broad showcase of Basque culture and artistic education."

The day will commence at 10:00 AM with an opening ceremony in Euskal Herria square. Subsequently, the 'Musikaldi' festival will unfold across five locations in Legazpi, featuring performances between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM: band and orchestra concerts in Euskal Herria square, choral concerts in the Urbeltz fronton, dance performances in Kale Nagusia, chamber music concerts in front of Agirre Etxeberri, and combo concerts in the pedestrian street of Laubide. Additionally, traditional street parades (kalejiras) will animate the streets throughout the morning.
This year's 'Musikaldi' theme will be interculturality. In connection with this, 2nd-grade primary school students from Legazpi's educational centers have developed a project that they will present during the opening ceremony.

"We encourage everyone in the town to enjoy this day with us; it will be a unique space for encounter, exchange, and celebration through music and dance."
