Lazkao will host Palestine Day on Saturday, featuring a series of events aimed at denouncing genocide and fostering solidarity.

Lazkao will celebrate Palestine Day this Saturday with a full day of diverse activities. This initiative is the result of collaboration among numerous local groups and individuals, with the primary goal of denouncing the genocide being carried out by the State of Israel against Palestine.
As explained by the organizers, the event aims to weave a network of solidarity with local entities and to energize the awareness, solidarity, and support of Lazkao residents towards Palestine. "The objectives of this day align with those of our group," stated the popular initiative Lazkao Palestina.
Among the groups and individuals joining the initiative are the dance group Oin Arin, the music school Lazkao Txiki, the Ikastola, Maizpide, EH Bildu, Sortu, the Gazte Asanblada, the group Kimu, the association Gerriko, Konpartsak, JTK, the batukada, the Feminist Group, Lazkao Anitza, Bakuntza, Antzar korrikalariak, and the Lazkao City Council. The organizers have expressed their gratitude to all participants.
The program will kick off at 11:00 AM with street animation. Following this, there will be a storytelling session about Palestine (12:00 PM), an opportunity to taste falafel snacks (12:30 PM), a Palestinian dance performance by groups Watani and Oin Arin (1:00 PM), and a talk on Palestine (1:45 PM) in the morning.
At midday, at 2:30 PM, a community meal will be held in the main square. Tickets for the meal can be purchased at the Gerri, Herri, and TPT bars, priced at 20 euros for workers and 15 euros for students or the unemployed.
In the afternoon, at 4:30 PM, a concert by Palestinian singers Ahmed and Nur will take place, with participation from the Lazkao Music School and Leire Agirre. From 7:00 PM onwards, the talo makers from the group JTK will be active, and the day will conclude at 8:00 PM with a concert by the Lazkao-based group Erdoyik P.
The popular initiative Lazkao Palestina Herri Ekimena was founded in September 2025. The group has reported that since October 2023, over "72,600" deaths and more than "172,000" injuries have occurred in Gaza, adding that the entry of humanitarian aid, medicines, and food has also been blocked.
The popular initiative emphasizes that the stance against genocide is widespread and extends a call to the residents of Lazkao and the wider Goierri region to ensure that "our cries of love reach Palestine loudly."
