The Lazkao City Council has launched a tender to improve the drainage system of the Begiriztain stream, aiming to prevent flooding and improve rainwater management in the municipality.

The first phase of the project has a budget of 131,941 euros. The intervention aims to strengthen the hydraulic capacity of the urban area to minimize the impact of heavy rainfall.
According to the local government, the final section of the stream suffers from recurring blockages due to the accumulation of vegetation and solid materials at the entrance of the underground section. The new surface network will allow water to be channeled without altering the current riverbed.
This work is part of a broader strategy against flooding, following previous interventions in areas such as Mikelar, Santa Magdalena, Esparru, Zubierreka, and San Prudencio.
Interested companies can submit their bids until July 8 through the municipal procurement platform. Construction is expected to begin this autumn.
