This coming Friday, October 27th, at 12:00 PM, the new access routes to Ormaiztegi train station will be launched with a small inauguration ceremony, adhering to universal accessibility principles.

The aim of these works has been to complete and adapt the access route from the urban center of Ormaiztegi to the Madrid-Hendaya railway station, meeting the universal accessibility criteria mandated by current legislation and creating a NEW INTERMODAL SPACE, complete with new parking facilities for cars and bicycles.
To achieve this, two main interventions have been carried out: the creation of a new pathway, two and a half meters wide with a maximum gradient of 6% (as stipulated by law), starting from the lower part of Eztanda Ertz street and ending at the new urban elevator built at the base of the station. This will be a mixed pedestrian-bicycle route, and consequently, 14 bicycle parking spaces have been prepared next to the elevator's base.
Additionally, an urban elevator has been constructed to connect the final point of the pedestrian-bicycle route and the vehicle parking area with the future passage between platforms projected by ADIF. This ensures that any person can access either of the two platforms. The elevator includes an intermediate stop, as required by safety regulations for mechanical lifts, which is utilized to connect with the small parking area and the foot of the stairs at the current station access.
It is important to note that the work completed by the City Council does not yet reach the current level of the station. This is because ADIF will completely renovate the station and create a new access with an underpass between platforms at the precise point where the current upper passage from the elevator terminates. At this location, there will be a new hall with ticket barriers for station access, as well as a tunnel leading to the platforms via new ramps and elevators. The City Council and Adif have collaborated to develop and technically agree upon both projects. Once the municipal part is finished, ADIF will commence its work around October 2027, requiring over six months for tendering. Patience is needed until the entire project is completed, but it will be worthwhile.
