Runners from Goierri achieved excellent results in the short distance of the Segura-Zerain mountain race, with Azeddine Elhamidi and Intza Urrestarazu emerging as winners.

The IX Segura-Zerain mountain race took place this morning, divided into two distances. The long race started from Segura's main square at 09:30 AM, covering a 25-kilometer route. The short race, on the other hand, began half an hour later, with a 14.5-kilometer course.
In the short distance, Goierri runners filled the podiums in both male and female categories. In the men's race, Azeddine Elhamidi from Zegama was the fastest, finishing in 1:08:47. Pello Olaberria from Mutiloa secured second place with 1:12:00, and Iban Sanjuan from Zegama came in third with 1:12:19. In the women's race, Intza Urrestarazu from Ordizia was victorious, followed by Nora Anton from Lazkao with 1:31:01 and Nerea Beldarrain from Segura with 1:34:58.
Following tradition, the winners crossed the finish line with a replica of the Sanson stone, which has become an emblem of the race. A total of 31 prizes were awarded, crafted under the Made in Segura label by Daniel Bonikowsky, a resident of Segura. In addition to the winners' prizes, this year also saw an award for the largest kintada from Segura, Zerain, and Mutiloa, as well as a youth prize for participants aged between 15 and 17 years.
With favorable weather conditions, an excellent atmosphere prevailed throughout the morning, and a large crowd gathered in the streets of Segura and along the route to cheer on the runners.
