Cheesemakers from the Góierri region emerged victorious at the XXVI Idiazabal Shepherd Cheese Competition held in Azpeitia, securing several accolades.

The cheese dairy La Leze from Ilarduia, run by Joxe Mari Jauregi from Lazkao and Eli Gorrotxategi from Beasain, took home the first prize. This competition was part of the main events celebrating the Baserritarren Eguna (Farmers' Day), held in Azpeitia on July 25th.
Ondarre from Segura secured second place, under the name 'CR7'. The third prize went to Gaztañaditxulo from Zegama, and Julen Lekuona from Araiako finished in fourth place. A total of 22 cheesemakers participated in the contest, and attendees also had the opportunity to taste sheep cheese pintxos at the stalls set up in the town square.
Additionally, the 52nd Cider Competition also took place on the same day. In this event, 23 cider producers participated, including Oiharte from Zeraingo.
