The Basque Government has issued guidelines to cope with the heat, advising citizens to keep homes cool, prevent dehydration, and avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours. Consequently, streets remain empty during the hottest parts of the day.
Several municipalities have decided to cancel or strictly regulate the San Juan eve bonfires. Additionally, many local businesses and bars have modified their operating hours, opening later in the afternoon to ensure safety.
Swimming pools and water parks are currently at full capacity. Popular spots include the natural pools in the Telleriarte and Brinkola neighborhoods of Legazpi, as well as areas along the Amundarain river in Zaldibia, where residents have created makeshift beach areas.
