The Department of Mobility, Tourism and Territorial Planning will add two round-trip services to the GO07 line, which connects Urola Garaia and Goierri with Donostia, extending them to Legazpi from Monday to Friday. This measure will improve the connectivity of this municipality with Donostia.
The deputy Azahara Domínguez, along with the councilor for Sustainable Development, Energy Transition and Transport of Legazpi, Óscar Valbuena, informed that, after studying the usage data of the line and the transfers made by Legazpi residents to use it, it has been decided to add four new services originating or terminating in this town.
Specifically, the buses currently departing from Zumárraga at 10:15 and 12:15 will, from June 1st, depart from Legazpi at 10:05 and 12:05. Additionally, those departing from Donostia at 16:45 and 17:45 will extend their route to Legazpi. These services join those already implemented in May of last year: Monday to Friday at 06:05 and 07:05 towards Donostia, and those departing from the Gipuzkoan capital at 20:45 and 21:45; and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, at 08:05 from Legazpi and at 22:45 from Donostia.
As the deputy specified, the analysis of usage data over the past year indicates that these are the hours with the most transfers, which is why it has been decided that the bus will depart from or arrive in Legazpi at these times. In total, from Monday to Friday, there will be eight direct connections to Legazpi, four outbound in the morning and four inbound in the afternoon.
Furthermore, the deputy explained that to continue facilitating access for Legazpi residents to the GO07, her department will adjust the schedules of the DG09 line (Legazpi-Zumárraga (Hospital)), to "ensure that all passengers arrive on time for transfers" between the two lines at the intermodal station in Zumárraga. The DG09 line makes stops at numerous points in Legazpi, allowing elderly people, students, and workers to access the GO07 more easily from a point closer to their homes, without having to travel to the industrial estate.
It should be recalled that it will remain possible to make transfers with the DG04 line (Arrasate-Oñati-Legazpi-Zumárraga).
Councilor Óscar Valbuena has described these measures as "very positive", emphasizing that they represent "a new step to continue improving the connectivity of the citizens of Legazpi with Donostia and to facilitate increasingly comfortable, efficient, and sustainable mobility alternatives". He highlighted that "thanks to these changes, a greater number of residents of Legazpi will have a more direct public transport service adapted to their daily needs".
The provincial official has valued the institutional collaboration and active listening to continue improving Lurraldebus: "We listen to the citizens and study the data to adapt the service where we detect room for improvement, responding to the real needs of the people of Gipuzkoa so that everyone has the same opportunities to develop their lives, without needing a private vehicle or depending on third parties, always with rigor and planning".
Likewise, the deputy has stressed that the department's objective is to continue strengthening public transport as an increasingly competitive alternative to private vehicles. "Every improvement we incorporate seeks to democratize access to public transport to facilitate citizens' daily lives and thus move towards a territory that is not only more sustainable and cohesive but also more egalitarian. We will continue listening, analyzing, and adjusting services to better respond to user demands and thus guarantee useful, efficient, and increasingly accessible public transport".
Finally, the deputy reiterated that her department will continue analyzing usage data, as it does with all other Lurraldebus lines, "to be able to adapt the service we provide to existing demands".
Schedules can be consulted on the Lurraldebus website or by calling the user assistance line at 900 300 340.
