The town of Ezkio is gearing up for its San Miguel Festivities, which will commence on May 8 with a three-day program packed with activities, including a dance exhibition and a local produce market.

The municipality of Ezkio is set to host its San Miguel Festivities starting from May 8, featuring an extensive three-day program. According to a member of the organizing team, these festivities are characterized by a “popular atmosphere” and serve as an occasion for residents from both the upper and lower parts of Ezkio to come together. The San Miguel celebrations take place in the upper area, while the San Pedro festivities are held in the Santa Lutzi and Anduaga neighborhoods in June.
The celebrations will kick off on May 8 with the txupinazo at 10:00 AM, marking the earliest start in recent years. The first day will include a bicycle ascent for residents, from the roundabout in the Santa Lutzi neighborhood to the upper part of Ezkio. In the evening, instead of the traditional cider tasting, there will be a bertsolari dinner featuring well-known improvisers.
On Saturday, a significant novelty will be the Basque dance exhibition by the Ezkio dance group, scheduled for 12:00 PM. This will be followed by a popular community meal, and in the afternoon, children's games and a romería. In the evening, a disco party will liven up the town.
Sunday, the final day of the festivities, will begin with a main mass and a choir performance. Additionally, for the first time, a market for local and regional products will be organized from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the square in front of the church, with the participation of various producers. One of the main morning activities will be the ascent to Izazpi, featuring races for children and a challenge for adults. In the afternoon, starting at 6:00 PM, there will be a rural sports exhibition, and as is customary, the San Miguel festivities will conclude with a barrikote.
