The Urretxu-Zumarraga team has claimed victory in the rural Basque sports challenge during the Lazkaomendi festivities, competing against eight teams and drawing a large crowd to the Ixurrene field.

In this year's Lazkaomendi rural sports challenge, the Urretxu-Zumarraga team emerged victorious. The competition saw a record number of participants, with eight teams, and the Ixurrene field was packed with spectators eager to watch the event.
In the initial qualifying rounds, seven teams competed, as the veterans of Lazkaomendi had already secured a direct spot in the final. In these rounds, Beasain (10.41) and Idiazabal (11.40) competed in the first heat; the youth of Lazkaomendi (10.51), Ataun (11.21), and Gabiria (14.21) in the second; and Urretxu-Zumarraga (10.00) and Segura-Zerain (11.53) in the third.
The grand final featured the veterans of Lazkaomendi, the team from Beasain, and the team from Urretxu-Zumarraga. The Urretxu-Zumarraga team took an early lead and maintained their pace until the end, securing the victory with a time of 16.37. The veterans of Lazkaomendi finished in second place (17.26), followed by the team from Beasain in third (18.28).
