The Usurbil Town Council has reopened the call for applications to fill the substitute justice of the peace position. This role became vacant after no one applied during the initial call last autumn. The announcement for the call was published in the Official Gazette of Gipuzkoa on April 20, and the deadline for submitting applications will be one month, starting from April 21.
Interested individuals must submit a sworn statement confirming they meet all the requirements of the call and are not subject to any legal incapacities or incompatibilities. Additionally, they should provide any merits they deem relevant for the selection process, along with their curriculum vitae. Valued merits will include residency, curriculum, and knowledge of the Basque language.
Applications can be submitted at the municipal registry or through the methods established by the Administrative Procedure Legislation. The announcement details all rights, obligations, qualifications, and compatibility conditions related to the selection process.
This marks the second time in a few months that the town council has issued a call to select a substitute justice of the peace. The first attempt took place on September 25, following a written communication from the Government Secretariat of the High Court of Justice of the Basque Country. At that time, only one candidate applied, who was subsequently proposed as the titular justice of the peace during the plenary session on November 26, with the Government Secretariat of the High Court of Justice of the Basque Country approving the appointment. However, as there were no other candidates, the substitute position remained unfilled.
On March 2, the Government Secretariat of the High Court of Justice of the Basque Country sent a letter to the Town Council, requesting the initiation of the procedure to appoint the substitute justice of the peace for Usurbil. The town council, having the authority to manage these selections, approved the launch of this new process during its session on March 26.
Candidates for the substitute justice of the peace must hold Spanish nationality, be of legal age, and not be subject to the incapacities and incompatibilities for judicial positions outlined in articles 102, 302, 303, and 389 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary. Residency, curriculum, and knowledge of the Basque language will also be valued.
