The new phase will be integrated into the contract with ILUNION for the betiON service and is scheduled to begin between September and October. This initiative aims to establish a more preventive and personalized care model capable of anticipating user needs.
The expansion will involve three main lines of action. A total of 3,236 smartwatches with geolocation and fall sensors will be distributed, along with 582 tablets for cognitive stimulation and 582 advanced home telecare solutions equipped with sensors to prevent domestic accidents.
The pilot project, primarily carried out in Gipuzkoa, involved over 200 participants. The evaluation concluded that these technological tools effectively enhance the safety and independence of elderly people in their own homes.
Currently, betiON serves more than 89,000 people across Euskadi. The Basque Government will ensure a balanced distribution of these new devices across Álava, Bizkaia, and Gipuzkoa.
