San Sebastián runner Sara Alonso has secured third place in the 25th Zegama-Aizkorri mountain marathon, achieving her personal best time.

Sara Alonso, from San Sebastián, finished on the podium at this year's Zegama-Aizkorri mountain marathon, securing third place. Although she couldn't repeat last year's victory, the athlete achieved her best-ever time in the race, clocking 4:25:51. Ahead of her were Sweden's Tove Alexandersson (4:08:09) and Spain's Malen Osa (4:23:56).
Alonso and Osa engaged in a close contest during the first half of the race, with the runner from San Sebastián initially in the lead. However, Osa overtook Alonso near the Aizkorri summit, and they maintained their positions until the finish line. Alonso expressed her satisfaction with her performance: “I knew catching Tove would be almost impossible. When Malen overtook me, I tried to follow her, but I don't know how many times I fell near the summit, and in the end, I decided to run my own race. I gave it my all and achieved my best time to date in Zegama-Aizkorri.”
